Yes, that plane is parked on the surface of the sea
There are in fact two runways, one seasonal, and used with planes that land on skis, and the other, on which we landed, permanent, although it cannot always be used because of the weather. It is on permanent sea ice and has landing lights and so forth. We can see the runway lights glimmering from our office. Keeping it open and viable is an important job.
