Vince's cross, with the "Discovery" hut below and McMurdo just visible on the hill behind.
Originally the diary of 4 months spent in Antarctica working as a documentary film sound recordist, this blog has evolved into an online repository for the thoughts, travels and trivia of the writer Richard Fleming. For McMurdo Station, Antarctica, and polar exploration, see August through December of '06. Currently you are likely to find in these pages chronicles of my actual and literary meanderings, as well as notes on my many other passions. Also, did I mention I wrote a book?

I just added the top link, to the "weather outside my window," but I'm suspicious it might only work here on the local intranet. Would someone click on it and let me know if it works from the greater world out there?
I got all 3 crosses when I clicked on "And now a word from our sponsor"
but I see no link "weather outside my window" - this from your ELM
Hey Nanuk of the South--was that you who nearly did a graceful face plant slipping and tripping and falling on the stairs to work this morning?
lights off here...fairly certain Santa Teresa has migrated south for the winter...
in reply to anonymous 15:50; yeah, that was me doing the (narrowly averted) face plant on the way into Crary....
Apparently the weather link I posted doesn't work outside the McMurdo intranet; I've replaced it with an off-ice weather link.
